  1. Grim Tutor was certainly a surprise. Most everything else I have if I've wanted it. The card I'm most interested in so far is Terror of the Peaks. Even better if it comes as a playmat. Good dragon playmats have been few and far between. Also happy to see Heroic Intervention get a reprint. Now, how about Assassin's Trophy and Arachnogenesis?
  2. Well, sign me up for that non-foil Atraxa. I wonder how hard the original will get hit, value wise? Shoulda, coulda, woulda sold off that and Kaalia while I had the chance. Here's hoping for a second go-around for Assassin's Trophy and Heroic Intervention.
  3. Not only that, but they're being destroyed because the hens are laying eggs faster than our crippled shipping infrastructure can move them. It's pretty sad. So, does the UK do dyed eggs on easter? How do you dye a brown egg?
  4. I tried playing over skype. More hassle than it's worth. My buddy kept walking away, helping wife and kids. Which is awesome and all good, just kind of a drag when I have nothing to do but wait. He'd be gone for 15-20 mins, we'd forget where we were, kind of a clusterf. You gotta set it up right. We've been talking about getting together for a real game soon. Just be smart and clean about it. I dunno.
  5. SyFy is streaming Battlestar Galactica for free. So after so many years, I finally get to watch it in it's entirety. Only a couple of episodes into it, but wow. I was a fan of Edward James Olmos before, but now he may be elevated into my top favs list. I had seen enough to get used to Starbuck being female, but wow, it's all done so well. I remember when I was a kid, the Vipers were my favorite of all the starfighters, and while I cringe at the "new new" ones, I Love what they did with the "Mk II" version, especially the flying dynamics, all the flipping around with thrusters and whatnot. I do have some nitpiks, a few "huh?" moments, but we'll see if any of them get explained away in time. Also, having just watched Lucifer (another REALLY good show), I'm kinda stuck on the "Trisha Helfer is a goddess" bandwagon.
  6. So, I know this isn't the busiest board in the world, but I have a question to put you guys. Mostly because of the "kitchen table" focus. This isn't about competitive MTG. The folks I play with are playing old school MTG the GAME. Anyone have decks that WANT to be more than 60 cards? I've been working on a deck for a while now. Dragon Tempest and tokens. It's never been smaller than 64ish cards, and typically sits all the way up around 74. I know. Insane. Here's the thing. I trim it down, and it doesn't work as well. I get it back down to 64-66 cards and it flops. I start adding stuff back in, and bam, fat and happy again. It can draw cards pretty efficiently through Dragon's Hoard, Elemental Bond, and Lord Windgrace. It's not a hard deck to stop, but it usually recovers well from assets being wiped. Occasionally, I've even had issue with decking myself with the Elemental Bond. Anyway, what do you all think about running a deck large if it works better? Or am I just trimming the wrong stuff out? Deck list forthcoming when I figure out how to link cards.

Well, you identified one card to trim on your own. Kothophed is dangerous. Downright unplayable in my groups. Too many crazy token decks.
  8. commander decklist

Mycoloth could go along with that strategy pretty well too.
  9. I'm confused. If there's 20 cards in a pack, how is it possible to come up with "121 20-card lists inside any given pack"? What did I miss?
  10. No one has anything? Not even a "it's gotta be 60 cards or ye shall hang"?

Jarad likes to eat big creatures. Check out Herd Gnarr. There's lots of ways of making big numbers of saprolings. Verdeloth the Ancient is a favorite. Verdeloth with a big kicker can make Herd Gnarr fairly huge. Ashnod's Altar can make big mana for the kicker cost, plus bonus damage if you've got Slimefoot out. Not a huge pricetag for any of them. Well, I guess Ashnod's Altar's price has creeped up since I last checked. Primalcrux can also get huge pretty quick. Especially with it's best friend Khalni Hydra.
  12. Well, I can't find link/tag instructions,(nor do I see any), so... The deck, as of this moment: Creatures (19): 3 Dragon Hatchling 3 Dragon Egg 3 Scourge of Valkas 2 Nesting Dragon 2 Lathliss, Dragon Queen 2 Broodmate Dragon 1 Verix Bladewing 1 Dragon Broodmother 1 Bladewing the Risen 1 Utvara Hellkite Non-creatures (20): 1 Lord Windgrace 2 Dragon Tempest 1 Crucible of Fire 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 2 Diabolic Intent 1 Worldly Tutor 1 Sarkhan's Triumph 1 Elemental Bond 1 Victimize 1 Recurring Nightmare 1 Journey to Eternity 1 Damnation 1 Crux of Fate 1 Casualties of War 1 Windgrace's Judgement 1 By Force 1 Kindred Charge Artifacts (11): 1 Panharmonican 1 Herald's Horn 1 Ruby Medallion 2 Dragon's Hoard 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Jet 1 Sol Ring 1 Chromatic Lantern 1 Thought Vessel Lands (27): 4 Tiaga 4 Badlands 1 Bayou 1 Rootbound Crag 1 Dragonskull Summit 1 Cavern of Souls 1 Reflecting Pool 1 Haven of the Spirit Dragon 1 Gaea's Cradle 1 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx 1 Volrath's Stronghold 1 Karakas 1 Yavimaya Hollow 1 Strip Mine 1 Reliquary Tower 1 Wooded Foothills 2 Bloodstained Mire 1 Verdant Catacombs 1 Mountain 1 Forest 1 Swamp Currently 77 cards. The Crux of Fate, Kindred Charge, and Nykthos are new ideas thrown in, and it hasn't been played that way yet. It's actually been at 74. What would you trim out, or would you just let it fly like this? Keep in mind, this isn't a overly-crazy competitive scene. We value fun and flavor over outright wins, although this has won probably 2/3s of the games it's played. There isn't a whole lot of "pro-active destruction" going on. We old school. I only want to trim this down because mana-clump and opening hand mana curve can hurt. The other issue I'd like to address is non-creature recursion. Mostly getting artifacts back. What say you?
  13. It's funny. A petition to Ohio to make being a Browns or Bengals fan a qualifying condition for medijane. Which may or may not make any sense to you. It's a 'murican football thing.
  14. I did. Haven't seen ep. 8 yet. I enjoyed it tremendously, although I've made the observation that while I've enjoyed it, I don't remember much of what's gone on, like it's not very memorable. After the wrap-up of what has been the main storyline for, well, ever, Disney has to be thinking "where to now?" I think the baby Yoda is obviously the stirrings of the future of SW. The Mandolorian was just the messenger/delivery man. BY has got to be around somewhere while Rey, Poe, and Finn are doing their thing(s), although still young. Is the world ready for "Angsty-Teen Yoda? And for seriously Disney, give him a name already!
  15. Man, I'm turning into an old fart. Those lands are stunning, and I doubt I'll use them. They just don't look like MTG cards. More like the "alt-art proxies" you'd buy on ebay. Maybe I'll stick em in one deck so I can trick myself into believing I'm not an old fart.
  16. SHENNANAGINS! Bought at walgreens? Not likely. Set is far to out (release-wise) for it to have been shipped and sitting at stores. By a LOT. Cool story up to that part.
  17. What was Frontier? Missed that one. I just flipped through my Dragon Tempest deck (that I can't get to work in Modern), wondering if it wouldn't work here. Been thinking of posting that deck here and seeing what you guys think.
  18. Well, it's a better idea than Brawl... I guess more formats is a good thing, but not my thing. Hard enough for me to build Modern. I don't have the cards to build any kind of functional Standard deck, and I'm gonna bet this new one will be the same. They should have added the Commander sets, just to give it enough uniqueness and not seem quite so much like the "half-way between Modern and Standard" format that it actually is.
  19. The price of Animate Artifact just went through the roof!
  20. That looks awesome. I wish I lived somewhere that could be be a full time hobby. I live in south FL, so not an option. There's trails around, but no elevation, and gravity is the fun part. I've been twice, once in north GA, once in West Virginia. Lots of fun.
  21. I like the idea that Zendikar won't be all about Eldrazi. Zendikar was one of my favorite blocks, Battle for Zendikar was a huge letdown, personally anyway. Maybe I'll enjoy this one more. Aren't 2 of those sets supposed to be related?
  22. Not really surprising, no. This is corporate murica, and Hasbro is a known evil. The goal is profit, above all else. Secondary is keeping people playing and logged in. It's like bragging rights. "We have XX number of players logged in for XX number of hours every day." Statistics. Those numbers are what the advertisers want to see. It supports goal #1. I hate it, but at the same time, I realize MTG would have died long ago without it. Same goes for Standard format. Despise the concept, love that it kept the game alive. I actually applaud them for coming down after the community blew up. You dont see that everyday. That is, IF I'm reading this right. I don't really do online MTG, paper only.
  23. And the pop culture thing goes both ways. I thought Kylie Jenner was Bruce's new name until I saw pics.
  24. I know, you outta see the blank stares I get from some of these crazy kids when I drop a Dark Ritual.

Hey, I have a question. Maybe I should have just started a thread, but this landfall thing is essentially the reason I'm asking. Involving Panharmonican... Lands hitting the battlefield aren't going to double landfall triggers, as Panharmonican specifies "when a creature or artifact enters the battlefield". But what about the Mirrodin artifact lands, such as Tree of Tales, etc.? I'm assuming they would trigger any landfall you have going? (Also assuming you can even play the Mirrodin lands, since they are banned just about everywhere.)
