Official THEROS: BEYOND DEATH Spoilers

It looks like we've got more fancy extended border stuff again. Ashiok's art is Amazing!

Also, if you missed it, here's the regular version of Ashiok an the fancy full-art version of Elspeth. It seems the full-arts have a distinct art style.

Oh yeah, totally forgot about these! They were part of the leaked cards earlier, so you may have seen them already, but these are the lands in Theros, and they aren't special fancy promo lands, they'll be in EVERY pack of Theros.

Man, I'm turning into an old fart. Those lands are stunning, and I doubt I'll use them. They just don't look like MTG cards. More like the "alt-art proxies" you'd buy on ebay.

Maybe I'll stick em in one deck so I can trick myself into believing I'm not an old fart.

There have been comments that they look like Pokemon energy :P

I like them for what they are...will probably try and use them in Theros-themed decks, if possible.

They are pretty fancy.  I don't mind them changing it up from time to time though.  Would be awesome if they teamed up with artists online and had them create artwork for lands, but I doubt that would ever happen.

This promo version of Daxos looks pretty cool! If I'm not mistaken, it's the Gameday promo frame, but it's also legendary and has the "nyx" enchantment border thing, so it all combines into this thing!

Edit: Turns out this is the Showcase frame. It's a little unimpressive for that, in my opinion. I thought this was just the full-art Gameday/Store Championship/Magic Weekend promo (like Abrade, Ghalta, Steel Leaf Champion, etc) but just so happened to have the legendary border and nyx enchantment treatment.

I was just expecting something a bit more...Greek. Some marble columns or something, I don't know...

Spoilers are trickling in. Not sure what to think of this one. It's definitely a real hard-to-deal with clock. Just keep exiling and sucking. Weird that it's on a green red

I just came here to post that! Looks like Elspeth has a new enemy.

I'm partial to life-draining effects, so having a passive deal 2/gain 2 effect on an indestructible enchantment sounds great. It seems SUPER WEIRD on a red/green card though. I mean, technically it makes sense, red deals damage and green can gain life, but Gruul lifedrain feels odd to me.

This card is interesting from a lore perspective. I didn't read the Theros storyline but did the Titans ever come into play? I know we had Titan's Strength as a card, but this solidifies their existence on the plane.

Official preview season is underway, here are some of the more interesting things I've seen. The Lotus MUST be commander playable, right? The Hound is a solid sideboard card, the Kraken just looks like a hell of a lot of fun, and the Ox is actually looking pretty great for Modern Dredge.

Also, the Gods we've seen so far:

Nylea (Translation below)

Indestructible
As long as your devotion to green is less than five, “Nylea” isn’t a creature.
Creature spells you cast cost {1} less to cast.
{2}{G}: Reveal the top card of your library. If it’s a creature card, put it into your hand. Otherwise, you may put it into your graveyard.

I haven't seen many people talking about this but my god does this look absolutely dumb in control decks. An opponent drawing cards off their counterspells is a losing battle, for sure.

New Polukranos also seems insane. 4-mana 6/6 that Escapes as a 12/12 and it can continuously fight creatures without dying since it prevents damage to itself. It's either a serious beatdown threat or a value engine.

Yeah, but I think the sheer value of how many creatures you can take out with a single card is going to be really good for GB midrange decks in Standard. :)

I have been embroiled in some stressful payroll stuff at work, so I haven't had a chance to enjoy the spoilers nearly as much. :(
